LinkedIn, X and Instagram Algorithm For You

Friday Edition

Magic Trick #15 for you -

Social channel algorithm is a big question for everyone.

Here’s the funny part?

LinkedIn? Instagram? Facebook? Reddit? TikTok? X?

Their basic algorithm remains the same. And we know what it is -

SO - we decided to talk about it.

Some of these are known to all the big creators in the world. And they are leveraging these in the best way possible.

We’ll take a quick look at LinkedIn’s and you’ll notice that every platform does the very same.

Here's how the LinkedIn algorithm works -

→ Uploaded content goes to 3-10% of active connections
→ ↑ engagement, ↑ reading time, post goes to more 1st connections
→ if same, post pops up to 2nd & 3rd connections

Now, how does factors like Post timing affect it -

Post timing -
→ if active connections are not available, ↓ impressions
→ if posted when peak activity, ↑ impressions
→ ↑ impressions, ↑ engagement
→ ↑ engagement, algo shows your post everyday

People suggest that you post at the timing of your leads.

This means if I am looking forward to connecting and my post popping up to people from the US; and I am from Nigeria -
Should you post at US timings?

NO.

Your active connections are not available there.

Instead build a strong active connections at that timing first.
Then, post.

Your impressions will be better. Your post will pop up on more feed.

Another part in the algorithm -

→ Say, your uploaded content gets 5 likes, 5 comments in 10 mins
→ ↑ impressions, post becomes popular
→ if comments > likes, post does well for an hour - stirs conversation
→ again, if comments > likes, ↓ impressions - likeability of post is questioned
→ post with upwards of 10-15k impressions - always - likes > comments

Now, how do you ensure better engagement with your posts?

You go and show people who you are.

How?

By commenting on their posts. Building trust.

How does this engagement strategy affect the algorithm?

→ Say, you have decided 100 comments/day - ↑ impressions
→ ↑ impressions, ↑ engagement, ↑ profile views
→ for some reason, you drop to 40-50 comments/day
→ due to the barter nature of the platform, people stop commenting back
→ ↓ impressions, ↓ engagement, ↓ profile views
→ LinkedIn starts questioning quality of post
→ drastic drop in metrics

There are suggestions that you should comment 30x, 50x, 100x

The truth is - you need to comment as many as you can can keep pace with.
Start with sustainable commenting.

If you keep up with 15x for 4 months, you'll reach a wider audience.
